Unbelievable showing for Men’s Freestyle Team at the 2023 USCSA National Championships

The men's Freestyle ski team qualified for the U.S. Collegiate Ski and Snowboard (USCSA) National Championship in Mammoth, CA for the first time in over 5 years. The team is made up of 6 skiiers, Michael Streeter 23', Collin Hicks 24', Matthew Thompson 25', Jack Ambery 25', Vincent Pirraglia 26', and Jake Kirsch 26', and 1 snowboarder Nolan Cooper 25'.

The Fairfield University Freestyle team finished in 3rd place overall for the Slopestyle National Championship and stood on the podium next to the University of Colorado Boulder (2nd) and the University of Nevada (1st). The team was led by sophomore Matt Thompson in 4th place overall, senior captain Mike Streeter in 9th, junior Collin Hicks in 16th, freshman Jake Kirsch in 22nd, and freshman Vincent Pirraglia in 34th overall.

The team and all other qualifiers at the National tournament had to go up against the snow storms that brought multiple feet of snow to Mammoth, CA. The team had to adjust their game plan and schedule and came out on the other end with a 3rd place team win! The team has set a new record for the Fairfield University Ski and Snowboard team and Club Sports, the Department of Recreation, and the University are extremely proud of the hard work, dedication, organization, and success of the team.

Congratulations on an incredible 2023 season, and the team is already looking forward to competing in 2024!
