Fairfield Women's Club Softball played against University of Rhode Island on Sunday, November 10th. Fairfield had two very competitive games against them and took the win in one of the games, but ultimately played very well.
    In the first game, Fairfield had an overall team win. They won 5-3. The great plays happened all over the field; it was a team effort. Senior, Mackenzie Turner pitched a great game. Offensively, they hit very well and were aggressive on the bases. A few more players to highlight in that first game, that helped contribute to the win were sophomore Katelyn Wiehe who had multiples runs batted in and caught for Kenzie, sophomore Katerina Giapoutzis at first base who had a ton of great plays and definitely showed up offensively, and finally, sophomore Marissa Lamarre who had many great catches in the center field position that kept them in the game defensively.
    Although Fairfield could not pull out the win against URI in the second game, they still played very competitively and well. They suffered a tough loss 13-9, but there were a few players who kept the game going and competitive: Junior Celia Park pitched a great game and Katelyn Wiehe played another great game. Junior Brianna Dimaggio had a great game at third base and had a lot of hard-hit balls at her and made no errors in the plays. She showed up in big ways offensively as well.
    Fairfield pulled out a great win in the first game, and although they were unable to in the second game, the team still played great. Fairfield has three games left in their fall season against Hofstra on November 17th. Fairfield hopes to win these last few games in their fall season and end on a good note.
