Tom began playing rugby as a sophomore at Manhattanville College in Purchase, NY. He co-captained the club in his junior and senior years. Post-graduation in 1985 he joined the men’s club at White Plains RFC where he remains an active member and an occasional “White Plains Classix” participant on the pitch.
Career highlights include tours to Ireland and Zimbabwe, representing the Met Union Select Side in England, Bermuda, and National Championships in Chicago. Tom continued to participate beyond his most competitive years with clubs that include the Danbury RFC and the CT Yankees. As recently as this Summer joined all three of his sons on the pitch at the Danbury 7’s Tournament.
His coaching experience began as a resident in Redding, CT and as one of the founders of the Aspetuck Valley RFC. Tom served as a backs coach during the years his sons attended Joel Barlow High School. In the Fall of 2021 and Spring of 2022 Tom joined the Fairfield University coaching staff as an assistant focused primarily on back play and nurturing individual player fundamentals and skill sets.
