The Fairfield Stags walloped the Texas Tech Raiders in the Lone Star Bowl on Saturday, claiming the win 60-19. The Stags dominated the first half, with seven tries from second row Cassius Grimes (twice), flanker Thomas Morales, prop Christopher O'Halloran Gannon, prop Luke Boals, and fullback Archer Fenton (twice) with three conversions from flyhalf Ian Thomson (twice) and wing Aaron Traynor. The Red Raiders didn't go scoreless, securing a try from flyhalf Marlowe Fokken and conversion from center Brighton Chinyanya to close the first half at 41-7. The Red Raiders were able to add a few more points to the board thanks to tries from eight man Holden Newland and fullback Divine Harbor, with a conversion from Chinyanya, but it wasn't enough to save them. The Stags kept up their momentum in the second half, grounding an additional 3 tries by fullback Cian O'Callaghan, Boals and Grimes and two conversions from O'Callaghan to win 60-19.
