Chris Giunta '25, of the FURFC, would be a great candidate for the Player Spotlight.
1. Chris was an All Liberty Conference 1st Team
2. Chris hit the game winning 50-meter penalty kick (against Siena) to send us into the National Quarterfinals
3. Named Team Captain for '23 Season."
What made you decide FairfieldU?
- "I got recruited for rugby and learned about Fairfield's great business school, so I decided that it was the best fit for me."
- Chris is a finance major in the Dolan School of Business.
How long have you played rugby? Favorite part about playing rugby?
- "I started playing my freshman year of high school, so this is my 6th year. My favorite part is the physicality and speed of the game."
What would you tell someone who was interested in joining FairfieldU rugby?
- "We are a built in family. You immediately have 80 friends all willing to help you with whatever you need."
What is your favorite memory or moment as a student-athlete?
- "My favorite memory is when we beat Siena on a game winning kick that sent us to the National Playoffs."
Do you have any game day rituals?/Favorite warm-up song
- "I like to go to the chapel before every game. Favorite warm-up song would probably be Turks by NAV"
Who is your role model/inspiration, and why?
- "My role model has to be my dad because he pushes me to be a better version of myself every day."
What is the best advice you have ever received from a coach?
- "It's ok to make mistakes, the only way to succeed is by learning from your mistakes."
You were recently voted as Men's Rugby captain. What does this honor mean to you?
- "It's a huge honor that comes with more responsibility, but at the end of the day, it's just a title and we as a team are still trying to achieve the same goals."
