MATCH REPORT vs. Vassar College

On a Sunday day, Vassar traveled to Grauert field for the second match of the season. It was Deja Vu all over again as Vassar started off the match with their trademark Poughkeepsie python. The Stags continuously put up a valiant effort but Vassar was able to maintain possession by playing a tight 12 player game. Vassar's strong offensive play and solid defense, which kept Fairfield at bay for most of the match preventing them from playing their style of rugby. First Half: Vassar College took an early lead with a series of well-coordinated tries which were the result of their continuous pick and goes with formidable rucks. Vassar led at the half 26 to 0. Second Half: The second half the ladies were re-energized and focused. For 35 minutes the Lady Stags prevented Vassar from scoring with solid tackles and counter rucks. Unfortunately, Vassar was able to score in the corner the last few minutes of the match. Despite the loss, the team showed great spirit and fought hard throughout the match. Lauren Cunneen '26 with her first start at 12 from 8! The ladies are determined to have their revenge on the playoffs.
