The Fairfield Women's Club Basketball team defeated Wesleyan at home on Feb. 22 by a score of 76-48 in their final game of the 2024-2025 season. From the opening tip, the Stags were in control, tuned into a gear that Wesleyan could never match. Senior point guard and co-captain for Fairfield
Lily Roberson came out unconscious from the offensive end and never woke up. The Stag's game-high scorer poured in 12 of Fairfield's 14 points, doing it through a mirage of three pointers and crafty drives to the rim. "Sometimes you just have those days, days where the hoop seems super wide and the ball comes off your hand the way you want it…today was one of those days for me" said Roberson after her season-high 28 point outing.
While the Stag's offense left nothing to be desired this game, their effort on the defensive end also deserves praise. They held Wesleyan to just three points after six minutes of play, and under 20 points after the first half buzzer sounded. The start of the second half was almost a mirror-image of the first, with nearly all of Fairfield's squad contributing to their lead and scoring at will. Fast-break layups stemming from Stag steals were frequent, combined with the Stags hot three point shooting and Wesleyan found themselves on the wrong side of a 28 point blow out. With a dominant win in front of their home crowd, Fairfield closed out their season on a high note.
