Women's Basketball Ready for Competitive Winter Season

The Fairfield University Women's Club Basketball team defeated Sacred Heart 48-33 on Monday, October 16. While the game was considered a scrimmage and does not count for their overall record, the Stags ball movement and three-point shooting was on full display in the route over their cross-town rivals. The Stags opened up the first half on a commanding 7-0 run and continued to play an unselfish and gritty brand of basketball throughout the entire game. The team has high expectations for itself, as they are looking to build off an impressive 14-3 record last season and make a run at their conference championship. This goal is reflected by the character of the team, which is centered around competitiveness. The team requires a certain level of dedication and commitment, as they practice twice a week from September to April, with some games played on weekends throughout each semester. This year, in fact, the team is attending a weekend-long tournament at Penn State, as they look to make noise on a larger scale. Nonetheless, the team says that the grind of a long season is all worthwhile, as their shared love of the game make each practice and game fun and entertaining. Their unselfish style of play is their M.O., as the team believes that good basketball comes from working together. The team is constantly looking for ways to improve and stay connected on and off the court, which makes it easy to see why they have been so successful in recent years.

Next Home Game is November 5th @11am in FairfieldU RecPlex vs. Holy Cross.
