It was a cold and cloudy day at Fairfield on Sunday as the Fairfield Women's Club Soccer team celebrated their seniors in a scrimmage against Sacred Heart. The Stags looked for their get-back after they fell to the Pioneers in their previous matchup.
The Pios controlled most of the possession during the first half, but in her Senior Day game, goaltender Bella Fuierer stood tall and made some huge saves for her team. Her biggest of the first half came just after Fairfield controlled possession and the Pios got their first chance in a while. A dive across the crease to grab a shot coming from the right side of the field kept the game knotted at zero.
The first half came to an end with both teams looking sharp and hoping to grab the first goal in this tight matchup. The Stags started the second half with pressure as they came out aggressive on every ball. This caused the Pioneers to turn the ball over numerous times, leading to great offensive-zone chances for the Stags as they knocked on the door, looking to break the scoreless game.
The Pios would come back down the field and generate some chances of their own, but with great defense led by senior Allie MacDonald, the game remained tied. The Senior Day celebration ultimately resulted in a 0–0 tie for both teams, but the hard-fought battle by the Stags won't go unrecognized as they celebrate their seniors and all they have done for the program.
