Senior Night: Fairfield Women's Club Soccer Seniors Lead Team to Shutout Victory
On Wednesday, October 7, Fairfield women's club soccer celebrated its senior players
with a Senior Night game against the University of New Haven. This special game recognized
the seniors who have dedicated their time, leadership, and commitment to the team throughout
their Fairfield careers. The seven seniors honored that night were Ava Kozial,
Ali Tryon, Megan
Gallagher, MK Robinson,
Sydney Green, Kacey Hession, and
Kara Keating.
The starting lineup included all seven senior players, along with sophomore Addie Allen,
juniors
Sarah Adams and
Maria Waddington, and freshman goalkeeper
Tea Proia. Fairfield came
out with intensity right from the start, setting the pace early against New Haven. Shortly into the
first half, junior
Sarah Adams opened the scoring with a beautiful shot from the top of the box,
assisted by senior
Ali Tryon. As the first half continued, New Haven began to gain momentum,
moving the ball into Fairfield's defensive end and creating scoring opportunities. Despite their
efforts around the goal, Proia stood strong in net, making an impressive save to keep New Haven
off the scoreboard.
Fairfield moved the ball up the field with ease throughout the first half, as the defense
connected well with the midfielders, who then delivered skilled passes to the forwards to create
offensive scoring opportunities. Senior Ava Kozial capitalized on these opportunities, scoring
two consecutive goals, including an impressive shot into the upper right corner of the net, giving
Fairfield a 3-0 lead midway through the first half. With a comfortable lead, Fairfield maintained
its composure, focusing on connecting passes and controlling possession. To close out the first
half, senior
Megan Gallagher converted a penalty kick, extending Fairfield's lead to 4-0 heading
into halftime.
Despite holding a 4-0 lead, Fairfield came out strong in the second half, maintaining its
intensity as New Haven continued to increase its competitiveness. Fairfield kept the ball in its
offensive end for much of the half, creating several scoring opportunities. Although the second
half was largely dominated by Fairfield's offense, the defense remained alert and continued to
play an important role. Strong communication from senior center back MK Robinson helped
Fairfield switch the field effectively and move the ball forward to create additional offensive
opportunities. The final goal of the game came from senior
Ali Tryon, assisted by Ava Kozial,
extending Fairfield's lead to 5-0. This marked Tryon's first goal of her Fairfield club soccer
career, making it an especially memorable moment to celebrate on her Senior Day.
This high-tempo, exciting game was a great way to celebrate the Fairfield women's club
soccer seniors. With a dominant 5-0 victory over the University of New Haven, Fairfield
demonstrated strong teamwork, communication, and offensive skill throughout the game. The
seniors played an important role in the victory, making their final Senior Day celebration even more memorable. Overall, the game was a great way to recognize the dedication and
contributions these seven seniors have made to the Fairfield women's club soccer program.
