Fairfield Club Field Hockey celebrated their five seniors, Cielle McInenerney, Megan Latch,
Emma Spathakis, Jordan Mooney, and Sydney Dalton, in a round robin on Sunday, October
25th, with two games, one against Boston College and the other against University of Rhode
Island.
Fairfield started the day with a challenging matchup against Boston College. The Stags entered
the game knowing it would be competitive but were determined to fight until the final whistle.
The starting lineup consisted of Cielle McInenerney, Megan Latch, Esther Lodico, Jordan
Mooney, Emily Kiernan, Victoria Dicker, Grace Ganey, Emma Spathakis, Sydney Dalton, and
Grace Kelly. Throughout the game, Fairfield continued to put up a strong fight, working together
on both offense and defense. Despite their efforts, Boston College was able to secure a 1-0
victory. Although the Stags fell short, they remained determined to finish Senior Day on a high
note.
Fairfield then took on the University of Rhode Island in their second and final game of the day.
Both teams came out strong, battling for possession and creating scoring opportunities
throughout the first half. Despite several efforts, neither team was able to find the back of the net,
leaving the score tied 0-0 at halftime.
The Stags came out of halftime with renewed energy and determination. Early in the second half,
Ally Quinn scored the first goal of the game, giving Fairfield a 1-0 lead. The momentum
continued as Fairfield's forward line worked together with beautiful passing, allowing Quinn to
score her second goal of the game and extend the lead to 2-0. The Stags continued to apply
offensive pressure, and Kyleigh Stellato added another goal to bring the score to 3-0. Fairfield
maintained its lead for the remainder of the game, securing a shutout victory over URI.
Although Fairfield finished the day with one win and one loss, Senior Day was about much more
than the final scores. The team came together to celebrate its five seniors and recognize their
dedication, leadership, and contributions to the program. From their hard work on the field to the
friendships they have built along the way, each senior has played an important role in the team.
The Stags were proud to honor their seniors and finish the day with a 3-0 victory, making it a
memorable celebration for the entire team.
